Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion

肌ラボ極潤プレミアムヒアルロン液
skincare lotion

A rich, serum like hydrating lotion (Japanese "化粧水") packed with 7 types of hyaluronic acid, the most of any product in Hada Labo's lineup. Despite its thick, viscous texture, it absorbs quickly without leaving a sticky residue. One of the best selling skincare products in Japan and a cult favorite in the global skincare community, especially on Reddit's r/AsianBeauty where it's a go to recommendation for dehydrated skin. The "Premium" is the upgraded version of the original Gokujyun Moist, noticeably thicker and more concentrated. Works as a hydrating first step after cleansing, applied to damp skin. Fragrance free, colorant free, mineral oil free, alcohol free, paraben free.

FAQ
Is this too thick to use in summer or for oily skin?
It is thick, but it absorbs faster than you'd expect. Oily skin types often use it in winter and switch to the regular Moist in summer. If you live in a humid climate or have very oily skin, you might find it too heavy year-round. But many combination skin users love it because you can use 1-2 layers of Premium instead of 3-5 layers of Moist and get the same hydration.
What is the difference between this and the regular Gokujyun Moist?
Premium has 7 types of hyaluronic acid (including Super Hyaluronic Acid and 3D HA) vs. 4 types in Moist. It also contains urea and sacran for extra moisture retention. The texture is noticeably thicker, almost serum-like, while Moist is watery. Premium is overkill for oily skin but perfect for dehydrated, dry, or mature skin. If your skin feels tight after cleansing, Premium is the better choice.
Do I still need a moisturizer after this?
Yes. This is a hydrating toner (化粧水), not a moisturizer. It adds water to your skin, but you need an occlusive layer (cream, gel, or oil) on top to seal it in and prevent trans-epidermal water loss. In very humid climates, some people get away with just the Premium Lotion, but most need a light moisturizer or sleeping pack on top.
