FAQ
What is the difference between Anessa sunscreen types (milk vs gel vs essence)?
Milk is the most waterproof and sweat-proof formula, designed for sports, beach, and outdoor activities. It has a slightly mattifying finish and uses a hybrid of chemical and physical filters (zinc oxide + chemical). Gel is lighter, more hydrating, and better for daily wear. Essence is the most cosmetically elegant but less waterproof. If you swim, sweat heavily, or spend hours outdoors, milk is the right choice.
Does this leave a white cast?
Slight white cast initially due to the zinc oxide, but it fades to a natural finish within a minute on light to medium skin tones. On deeper skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV-VI), there may be a subtle cast that doesn't fully disappear. If you want zero white cast on deep skin, stick to 100% chemical sunscreens like Biore UV Aqua Rich or Skin Aqua.
Is this really waterproof for swimming and sports?
Yes. Anessa is Shiseido's sports sunscreen line, and the Perfect UV Milk is their flagship waterproof formula. It uses Aqua Booster technology, which means it gets more protective when it comes in contact with water or sweat. Reapply every 80 minutes during continuous water exposure, but it genuinely stays on better than most sunscreens.
