For a fragrance free conditioning step
Orbis Essence In Hair Milk
Orbis Essence in Hair Milk suits you if scented hair products get in the way. The standard formula contains amino acids and soybean sterols, with a milk texture you can apply before drying your hair.
For shine and smoother ends
Fino Premium Touch Hair Oil
Fino Premium Touch Hair Oil is the choice if you want an oil to finish your lengths and add shine. It contains squalane and has a floral fragrance. This comparison focuses on the regular smoothing oil.
What is the difference between hair milk and hair oil?
Both are products you leave in after washing. Orbis is a water based conditioning milk. Fino’s regular oil uses a blend of conditioning ingredients, including silicones, to smooth the hair surface. It isn’t a bottle of pure plant oil.
| Your preference | Start here |
|---|---|
| No added fragrance | Standard Orbis Hair Milk |
| A milk to spread through damp lengths | Orbis Hair Milk |
| A finishing oil with a floral scent | Regular Fino Hair Oil |
| A lighter finish within Fino’s oil range | Look at Fino Airy Smooth |
Orbis also sells a limited osmanthus scented milk. Choose the standard version if avoiding fragrance is the reason you’re buying it.
Which Fino oil are we comparing?
Fino has a regular smoothing oil and an Airy Smooth version. FineToday describes Airy Smooth as the lighter finish. That difference matters more than treating all Fino oils as interchangeable.
For the regular oil, the useful question is whether you want extra slip and shine on your lengths. If your existing conditioner already leaves your hair soft, you may prefer that finishing step to adding another conditioning milk.
How do you fit either into your routine?
Wash and condition as usual. Apply your chosen leave in to the lengths and ends after towel drying, then dry your hair. Both brands also allow use on dry hair.
Orbis suggests 1 to 2 pumps for medium to long hair and 3 to 4 for long hair. Adjust to your hair’s length and how much product it comfortably takes. Keep the emphasis on your ends if your roots flatten easily.
You can try milk followed by a small amount of oil if one product leaves you wanting more conditioning or shine. Start with one so you can tell what it adds. Neither takes the place of a rinse out conditioner you already like.
