On r/MakeupAddiction (May 2024), in a thread titled "Is makeup from TikTok shop legit?", a user warned: "There are other shops that steal brand photos for the listing, but then you look in reviews and see that people were sent a knockoff." In December 2025, another user on r/MakeupAddiction advised: "Nah I wouldn't trust it tbh. TikTok shop is sketchy af for makeup, lots of fakes floating around on there."
Seller Fraud
On r/ecommerce (May 2025), a brand owner reported trademark infringement: "From the photo reviews it definitely is our product and infringes on the trademark." On r/Scams (June 2025), users described receiving items that did not match listings from stores with minimal ratings.
